Abstract

Compares negative and positive methods for expanding range. Negative methods: excessive mouthpiece pressure, lip corner stretching, dry lip distortion, binding the embouchure muscles together, tightening the embouchure, changing mouthpiece position. Positive methods: breath support, a projected air stream, a correctly-formed embouchure, correct aperture setting, embouchure strength, a relaxed embouchure, the arched tongue.
